Daily Bread February 6, 2018
Ezekiel 3:1-3 And he said to me, "Son of man, eat whatever you find here. Eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel." (2) So I opened my mouth, and he gave me this scroll to eat. (3) And he said to me, "Son of man, feed your belly with this scroll that I give you and fill your stomach with it." Then I ate it, and it was in my mouth as sweet as honey.
The sweet taste of God’s Word. Ezekiel was handed the Word of God … just like the waiter that hands us our meal, Ezekiel was handed the sweet Word of God. He was told to fill his stomach with it. I have a friend who asks this question often, “If all I spoke today was God’s Word, how much noise would be coming from me?”. That’s a good question. When my belly is full…. Stuff happens. First, I have a sense of comfort … like ready to lay down and nap comfort. Second, I am satisfied … I don’t want anything else. Third, I am nourished and strengthened …. I will have the energy to do what needs to be done that day. Finally, hang with me here….. finally, what went in …. .must come out. Now, I hope you see the opportunities available when we fill our bellies with the Word of God.
There is no greater comfort than God’s Word filling our lives. There is no greater satisfaction that being filled with knowledge of His will with all Spiritual wisdom and understanding. There is also no greater strength and conditioning plan on this planet than what can be found in God’s Word. And finally, when you are so full of God’s Word that all you eliminate is the sweet sounds of His Word …. Well …. What kind of a world that would be!!! Go ahead, take what He has offered you … take the scroll … open your mouth …. Take in the sweet Word of God.
