FBCO Extends Pastoral Call

On May 7th, 2023, First Baptist Church of Oronogo voted with a 98% majority to call Rev. Austin Lauderdale, formerly of Cumberland, MD, as the church's pastor, effective as soon as practicable.

In addition to his most recent pastorate in Maryland, Rev. Lauderdale has pastored in Alabama and held church staff positions in Mississippi and Louisiana. Austin and his wife Taylor have three children.

A rather lengthy day of worship services, a fellowship dinner, detailed testimonies, and a Q&A session with the entire church body marked the closing of a months-long process that included numerous telephone and video interviews and personal interaction with the church's Pastoral Search Committee.

Pastor Lauderdale's resume/application was one of about three dozen reviewed by the committee, which included four deacons and three female "members at large" from the congregation.

A graduate of Mooreville (MS) High School, he has studied at Itawamba Community College, received a B.A. in Christian Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and will receive the Master of Divinity degree from NOBTS in December.
