ARTICLE 5 - CHURCH GOVERNMENT Section 1 - Authority All authority for church business and administration shall be vested in the members assembled for the conduct of church business. All boards, agencies, and committees are non-authoritative and are answerable to the church for all actions. Section 2 - Church Business 1. Regular Meetings The Church shall hold regular business meetings on a quarterly basis. 2. Special Meetings Special business meetings may be called by the moderator, provided the notice of the business to be considered and time of this meeting is announced at least 3 services in advance in a scheduled service. At such business meetings the business shall be restricted to that announced. 3. Annual Meeting The business meeting in September shall be the Annual Business Meeting of the church. At this time, annual reports of all phrases of the church will be received, the annual letter to the Association adopted, messengers to the Associate shall be elected, and other major business specified for annual business meetings considered. Section 3 - Rules of Order Robert's Rules of Order shall govern procedure at all business meetings. Section 4 - Moderator The Pastor by virtue of his office shall serve as moderator of the business meetings. In his absence, the chairman of deacons shall preside. In the event of the absence of both, the clerk shall call the meeting to order and the church shall elect a moderator. Section 5 - Interpretation of Constitution The Deacons shall interpret specific questions about this conception and by-laws, subject to the amendment provision contained herein.
