Job 24:19-20 Drought and heat snatch away the snow waters; so does Sheol those who have sinned. (20) The womb forgets them; the worm finds them sweet; they are no longer remembered, so wickedness is broken like a tree.'
THAT is not a pretty picture! Worms finding the body sweet --- yuck! Sheol, translated here to be the place of the dead. It could mean a simple grave – 6 feet under. It could also be that place of eternal death. For me, neither sounds like fun! Death does not scare me. Being buried 6 feet under is a locked box does not bother me – CUZ I WON’T BE THERE! I tell Wendy all the time, “Just put me in a glad bag (one with odor lock) and throw in a big green trash can! You don’t really need to go to the trouble of a memorial service – if ya do, do what ya want – CUZ I WON’T BE THERE!”
Death has no victory in the life of a Born-Again-Blood-Bought-Believer. Death has no sting for the one found in Christ Jesus. Jesus conquered the grave (Sheol) – He conquered death! No matter how “hot” it gets, that heat cannot take away what Christ Jesus has done – His living water will “cool”, His living water will bring relief. When the enemy comes to accuse the Bride, the Father will only see the work of Christ in/on her – a work that can NEVER be forgotten. The death of Christ on a tree, the burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ --- that’s what BROKE the hold of sin on the Bride!
Sheol will have those who have sinned --- but only the ones who have never come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as LORD & trusting Him as Savior. For those who have, Sheol will never hold them – for they will be with their Father in Heaven.
Oh, taste and see, the Word surely is good!
